Pentax 17 is designed as a half-frame camera primarily for shooting in landscape orientation.

The viewfinder has two sets of focus frames. Additionally, you can directly see the current focal length setting through the viewfinder which is a considerate design.

On the right side of the viewfinder, there are two indicator lights. The upper orange light indicates the flash status, while the lower blue light indicates the camera’s shooting status.

There is an electronic shutter cable socket on the right side of the viewfinder, and the film count is displayed on the film advance lever to the right. The camera bottom features a tripod socket, a film rewind button, and three strap lugs, suitable for both neck strap and wrist strap.

A wrist strap is included, with a length of 25cm, which happens to be the closest focusing distance of the camera.

The top and bottom parts of the camera body are made of magnesium alloy, making the entire camera very lightweight. The rest of the body features a texture of leather, giving it an attractive appearance with a hint of vintage charm.
